The portal project has assembled info about various research issues for educational usage.

Inclusive Design:


Design for the whole population. Include the needs of elderly and disabled.

Self sustaining Production:


Using biodegradable or recycled materials, employing life cycle analysis to optimize processes, using closed loops for contaminated solubles and raw material (internal recycling), create good working conditions. This segement is targeting infrastructure building and production of rolling stock.

Operational issues:


Logistics of transport operations & operators. Avoid kilometres travelled or shipments by optimising the operation.
Co-ordinated regional logistics (external link)
Logistics with public transport means planning of the bus operation minimising the number of buses necessary to service a line with given headings.
With individual transport logistics means planning of the trips, or to share a vehicle. Planning of the replenishment may avoid to drive several times into the city for each piece - this is the same with utilities and service organisations.

Safety:


Maximise active and passive safety in transport.
Active safety includes advanced driver assistance sytems but also driver training for all modes (incl. cyclists).
Passive safety includes the characteristics of vehicles to avoid severy iniuries when hitting obstacles particularily persons or two wheelers.
